Week of Welcome
Begins August 15th
Welcome to Saluki Country! Start the Saluki Experience right by attending the 2008 Week of Welcome activities presented by New Student Programs and the entire SIUC campus.
When you arrive on campus with your student, you will be greeted by one of our enthusiastic student volunteers, a Student Life Advisor (SLA). These specially trained students are available to assist you and your student with all aspects of college life and will help make the transition to SIUC as smooth as possible.
SLAs are easy to spot as they sport the SIUC school colors of maroon and white. All new SIUC students and their families are beginning their Saluki Experience, and the SLAs are ready and willing to assist you!

Saluki Family Association and SIU Alumni Association Partnership
The SIU Alumni Association and the Saluki Family Association have combined efforts to serve the students, families, and alumni of Southern Illinois University Carbondale in a greater way!
We know that as families of SIU students you want to be informed about what is happening at the University. This partnership increases communication between families and SIU, provides on and off-campus opportunities for families to get involved and continues to provide the availability of various local and national business discounts.
After your initial year in the Saluki Family Association, we encourage you to join the SIU Alumni Association to continue to be a part of the SIU family! Check out their website at www.siualumni.com!

2007 Saluki Family of the Weekend
the Weekend for Saluki Family Weekend held October 19-21.
Tony and Helene Lamarre are the parents of Ryan Lamarre, a
freshman studying English. After correctly answering the Family
Weekend Questionnaire, the family's name was drawn for Family of
the Weekend. The contest was sponsored by the Saluki Family
Association.
The family received a variety of prizes including a two night
stay at Little Grassy Lodge, compliments of Touch of Nature
Environmental Center, Mom and Dad polos, tickets to the
Saluki Family Association breakfast, tickets to the SIUC football
game courtesy of the SIUC Chancellor's Office, and much more. We
hope that the Lamarre enjoyed their weekend with us. Be sure
to look for other contests and upcoming events in the future.

Saluki Family Weekend
Saluki Family Weekend will be running from Friday, October 19th through Sunday, October 21st. An Ashton, Illinois family was chosen as the 2006 “Family of the Weekend” for Saluki Family Weekend held September 29 – October 1. Stacy and Mark LeFevre are the parents of Michael LeFevre, a freshman in Aviation Flight. Michael is a member of the SIUC Flying Salukis and a pledge of Beta Theta Pi fraternity. Also joining Michael for the weekend was his grandparents, Dale and Mary Allen, and siblings Christopher, Andrew, and Lisa. After correctly answering the questions in a Saluki Trivia Quiz, the family’s name was drawn for “Family of the Weekend.” The contest was sponsored by the Saluki Family Association.
The family received a variety of prizes including a two night stay at Little Grassy Lodge, compliments of Touch of Nature Environmental Center, “Mom” and “Dad” polos, compliments of the University Bookstore, tickets to the Saluki Family Association Breakfast, tickets to the SIUC football game, and much more. A Chicago, Illinois, family was chosen as the 2005 "Family of the Weekend" for September 23-25! Jim and Pam Stencel are the parents of Tim Stencel, a freshman in Aviation Flight. Jim works for Southern Bell Company out of Chicago and Pam works as an administrative assistant for a court reporting company. After correctly answering all the questions in a Saluki trivia quiz, the family's name was drawn for "Family of the Weekend." The contest was sponsored by the Saluki Family Association.
The family received a variety of prizes including a two night stay compliments of the Best Inns and Suites of Carbondale, tickets to the SPC film Madagascar, tickets to the Saluki Family Association Breakfast, the Autumn Harvest Brunch, and the Saluki Dinner Buffet, and a gift basket full of merchandise from the University Bookstore. They also received special recognition at the Saluki Family Association Breakfast and the Family Fun Festival. We hope that the family enjoyed their weekend with us.
